2013 - I'LL TAKE YOU THERE - ALL RIGHTS RESERVED
I’ll Take You There: Homage to Blues and Gospel is a fast-paced 90 minute show that pays tribute to two of America’s most beloved musical genres. It includes
many examples of top-selling contemporary hits in both styles. The influences of African rhythms and improvisational call and response have been passed down
through chants, spirituals, work songs, and field hollers of early African-American music. I’ll Take You There includes traditional Gospel hymns such as, Sometimes
I Feel Like a Motherless Child and Precious Lord as well as Contemporary Gospel songs, Oh, Happy Day and Oh, Mary Don’t You Weep.  The production also
salutes the women and men who sing and play the Blues.  Songs such as St. Louis Blues, Crazy Blues and John the Revelator are a few of the Blues tunes that lead
the way to the hit-makers of the 50‘s, 60‘s, and 70‘s, Bo Diddley, Etta James, and The Staple Singers.

A roster of Chicago’s finest performers, including Contemporary Gospel singers; Jonathan MacReynolds, and LaShera Moore, Blues singer/guitarist; Fernando
Jones, Contemporary Singer, H.E. Baccus, and Jazz/Blues singer; Bobbi Wilsyn, demonstrates the common stylistic elements of these popular styles though out the
toe-tapping, hand-clapping revue.  Adding the important gospel choir element to the mix is the Columbia College Chicago Gospel Repertory Ensemble under the
direction of choral arranger/conductor, Walter Owens.

I’ll Take You There weaves together the common elements of Blues and Gospel music and takes the audience on an inspirational journey through time.
